Plan the covered barns for which AssetSphere achieved planning consent.

AssetSphere secured planning consent for four covered yard buildings for a farming client in Dorset.

An existing farming client entrusted us with the task of preparing and submitting a Prior Approval application under Part 6 Class A (a) of the General Permitted Development Order 2015. The proposed buildings were to be located adjacent to an existing herringbone parlour. To meet the stringent requirements of Part 6 Permitted Development, it was essential to demonstrate that the proposal was reasonably necessary for agricultural purposes.

The client aimed to erect these four covered yard buildings to address a critical issue: the production of surface water and dirty water, which is classified as slurry. By reducing slurry production, the farm would ensure compliance with Silage, Slurry and Agricultural Fuel Oil (SSAFO) storage regulations. This compliance is crucial for maintaining environmental standards and operational efficiency on the farm.

In addition to the Prior Approval application, the client sought to submit a Capital Grant Application to the Rural Payments Agency. This application aimed to secure part-funding for the covered yard buildings, further supporting the farm’s development and sustainability goals.

Our role was pivotal in this process. We coordinated with local professionals to gather the necessary documentation and evidence to support the application. Notably, the drawings for the application were provided by Read Agri of Wanstrow, whose expertise was instrumental in the project’s success.
