AssetSphere have successfully secured full planning permission for a temporary agricultural worker dwelling. The site is in a protected landscape area in Dorset, so the project came with a number of particular planning conditions that we needed to address.
An existing client approached AssetSphere to prepare and manage this application, including the preparation of the supporting agricultural appraisal to demonstrate the need for onsite accommodation. The temporary dwelling will support the client’s plans to expand their mixed farming enterprise by increasing sheep and beef numbers over the next three years.
Previously, we assisted this client with a pre-application submission and a full planning application for a new agricultural building to facilitate the business’s growth. The site is located within the Cranborne Chase National Landscape, where the landscape’s visual impact was a significant concern from a planning point of view.
The pre-application process established that the local planning authority would only find a single-storey dwelling acceptable in the proposed location. Also, the proposed dwelling will be situated on a previously developed agricultural yard adjacent to an existing barn, ensuring it blends well with the farm buildings and reduces the visual impact on the natural landscape.
During the planning consultation process, the council’s agricultural consultant requested further information regarding the business’s future growth plans and their financial projections. We were able to provide the necessary details and address the queries comprehensively. This allowed the application to move forward successfully and planning consent was granted.
The approval of this temporary dwelling represents a crucial step for the client’s farming business, enabling them to proceed with their expansion plans.
We are proud to have supported the client’s efforts to grow their business while navigating the complexities of planning regulations within a protected landscape area.
