AssetSphere were instructed to prepare and manage a full application to enable shipping containers, for general storage purposes, to be installed on a farm site within the Cranborne Chase & West Wiltshire Downs AONB.
The aim of the client’s project was to provide a diversified income without impeding the main farm access or operations.
The site is located within an AONB now known as the Cranborne Chase National Landscape, and within the Wiltshire Local Planning Authority area. Being within a protected landscape area led us to propose planting of a native hedgerow to screen the development from the surrounding landscape and provide a biodiversity gain.
The hedgerow would also have the benefit of screening the existing farmyard and buildings from view, resulting in an improvement to the local landscape quality.
Consequently, the proposal was considered to be compliant with planning policy and full permission was granted.
